Agricultural Land Issues

Pesticide applicators attend core training and recertification classes which prepare them to take the DEC pesticide certification exam. Recertification credits can be earned by attending specific classes throughout the year.

Cornell University Cooperative Extension works with farms and community leaders to address agricultural environment and land use issues. These efforts focus on a Farmland Protection Plan, nutrient management on farms, and Agricultural Districts.

There are three Agricultural Districts in Broome County. Open enrollment in the Agricultural Districts is held during the month of December each year.

District # 3 includes: Town of Sanford
District # 4 includes: Towns of Binghamton, Chenango, Colesville, Conklin, Fenton, Kirkwood, Maine south of Pollard Hill Road, Union and Windsor
District # 5 includes: Towns of Barker, Chenango, Lisle, Maine north of Pollard Hill Road, Nanticoke and Triangle
