Recycling and Solid Waste
In cooperation with Broome County, we provide free presentations, workshops,
and other education programs for Broome County schools, organizations, and
residents. The Broome County Division of Solid Waste Management and the
NYS Department of Environmental Conservation help fund these programs. To

Book Recycling Fair
The Eigth Annual Book Recycling Fair 2006 will be held at Cornell
University Cooperative Extension of Broome County. Book Drop-off days are
September 14-16, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Book Giveaway Days are September
22 & 23, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Click on this link to download a PDF file

Youth Education Programs
Trashman
This assembly program for elementary students features a lively performance
that demonstrates the benefits of recycling, reducing, and composting waste.
When Trash Comes Back
Professor R.E. Cycle combines visual aids, humor, and student participation
to help third and fourth grades students learn about recycling.
Hands-on
Solid Waste Activities
Hands-on learning activities include a recycling
lab, mini classroom composters, and compost creatures. These programs are
designed for elementary students, but can be modified for older students.
