Composting your leaves, yard & garden trimmings, and food scraps helps reduce solid waste, save tax dollars, and improve your soil. Visit or call our Information Center for free composting literature. Our composting education program includes:

This quarterly newsletter features practical advice for both the novice and experienced home composter. Available in hard copy or

Workshops & Presentations

Staff can conduct free workshops or presentations on composting for garden
clubs and other community groups.

Master Composter Program

This program provides volunteers with 10
hours of composting instruction. Volunteers then assist staff with education programs
and compost site maintenance tasks.

Home Composting Demonstration Site

Visit our demonstration site that features commercial and homemade compost bins. Located behind our offices at 840 Upper
Front Street.

Compost Bin Sales

The Broome County Division of Solid Waste Management and Cornell University Cooperative Extension of Broome County sponsor periodic bulk sales of commercially produced compost bins at reduced prices. For more information on bin sales, see the contact information below.
