Cornell University Cooperative Extension - Broome County is an excellent research based resource that provides up-to-date food safety information to the public.

Consumers may contact the staff during business hours (8:30 AM - 4:30PM) with questions about food, food safety, food preservation, or nutrition. The number is 772-8953. A variety of recorded messages on food safety topics can be accessed by contacting the receptionist in our main office or by requesting an information line directory and dialing direct. The Information Center, open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, has over 250 facts sheets on nutrition, food safety, food preparation, and food preservation. Most fact sheets are free or available for a small fee.
